S.E.A. Focus 2025: Artists Ong Kim Seng & Shen Jiaqi Inspired By Different Narratives of Spaces

Belonging to different generations, both Singaporean artists Ong Kim Seng and Shen Jiaqi take inspiration from spaces in Singapore. Ong paints rapidly changing places of rich history, such as Telok Ayer Street and the wet markets, while Shen considers the ordering of space, such as the long-standing strata malls and the phenomenon of shopping as a national pastime.  Explore the meanings of the modern and the contemporary with the two artists, and how their practices have evolved, as they continually experiment with subjects, mediums and techniques. In the video, Ong, represented by STPI — Creative Workshop & Gallery and Shen, represented by Cuturi Gallery also share what they will be showing at S.E.A. Focus 2025.
