Nebula: Gaël Davrinche
Past exhibition
Press release
Cuturi Gallery is proud to present a collection of past artworks by French artist, Gaël Davrinche (b.1971). Inspired by American artist Cy Twombly’s unrecognized photographic artworks, the Nebula series by Gaël Davrinche has streaks of colour casted over up-closed and enlarged flowers creating a hyper-realistic portrayal of blurred image, a similitude of the galaxy’s nebulous glow.
Davrinche keeps the strokes soft and tones saturated to shape a perfect gradual blurring of the subject matter. The effect is so ethereal that it allows the viewer to distance themselves from the subject, leaving a vantage point of interpretation. The relation to the work is more sensitive and poetic than reasonable. The pictures draw towards a strange abstraction that invites contemplation. By dissolving the object by the blur, Davrinche solicits the imagination and the look of the spectator.
Nebula will be on view at Cuturi Gallery from 11 November - 23 December 2023.
