The Melting Pot: Group Exhibition
With the end-of-year celebrations around the corner, Cuturi Gallery is offering one more surprise after an eventful year of exhibitions championed by our local and international artists. Launching on 27th November 2021, The Melting Pot features an exclusive local line-up of works that includes both familiar and fresh names that will pique the curiosities of art enthusiasts.
This group exhibition will be in collaboration with The Art Faculty. A social enterprise by Autism Resource Centre (Singapore), The Art Faculty creates quality gifts with art works and motifs by talented artists on the autism spectrum. Artists earn income when you buy their art pieces and merchandise, thereby linking the value of work to financial independence. The Art Faculty also trains and employs an inclusive workforce at their retail shops, café and online shop: http://www.theartfaculty.sg.
While we are familiar with the analogy of the ‘melting pot’, especially in Singapore’s multi-cultural society, this exhibition is injecting a dash of whimsicalness and inviting audiences to take their imaginations a step further. What exactly happens inside the ‘melting pot’? Do all the parts and ingredients mix well together? Can we imagine what will come up at the end?
The past year has been arguably difficult for most of us with change and adaptation being the only constant. Until recently, international travel has been very limited and perhaps this has contributed to a sense of weariness. Art and more precisely, the encounters with artists and how they imagine their world, has been one way of negating this mental fatigue for many of us.
Join us for this group exhibition as we appreciate some of Singapore’s very own talented young artists. As we delve into their artworks and learn more about their thought processes, hopefully we can rediscover our ability to imagine beyond the conventions. It has always been there but from time to time, we need a spark, an inspiration. What better way than to be inspired by the simple act of encountering art and the ones that produce them?
Participating artists from The Art Faculty include Asher Ng, Glenn Phua, Joshua Lee, Tay Jun-Yi, Ng Li Jie and Marvin Tan.
Participating artists from Cuturi Gallery include Aisha Rosli, Casey Tan, Chloe Ong, Faris Heizer, Marla Bendini, Shen Jiaqi and Oneal Parbo.
The Melting Pot will be on view at Cuturi Gallery from November 27 to December 19 2021.
