Ceramics have undoubtedly been on the rise in recent years, especially over the pandemic. If you’re into the craft, the best place to check out the works of various makers all under one roof is the upcoming Clay Makers’ Market, where more than 120 Singapore-based makers will be presenting hundreds of new works.
Ceramists include master potters Ahmad Abu Bakar and Jessie Lim, potters from leading Singapore studios including Garima Mittal, Mona Malhotra, Rachita Tania Misra, Saya Yamaguchi, Suriani Suratman, Sunar Sugiyou, Toh Kiam Hock and Yulianti Tan, as well as many newer pottery hands. VISIT A TENDER EXHIBITION EXPLORING FACETS OF THE FEMALE GAZE
The transgender experience is never monolithic and artist Marla Bendini is one who is known to articulate it with beautiful tenderness. Marla is back with a solo exhibition From These Ruins, We Rise and Fall, which showcases a series of new multi-media works that all draw inspiration from her personal experiences.
In this series of paintings, Bendini often includes figures that are near and dear to her heart, expanding on the bonds between her and her closest intimates, as seen in works that depict honest, unclothed bodies in natural habitats. And while the struggles she lives through may not be easy, she offers a sense of hope through the warm, delicately painted bodies that live in her works.

The elderly population, when visible in mainstream narratives, are often portrayed in a certain manner; in ill-health, neglected, lonely and so on. French documentary photographer Jose Jeuland’s new exhibition Aging Singapore aims to destigmatise the stereotypes surrounding the elderly in Singapore.
The exhibition features healthy, independent, and productive members of society, attempting to capture their zest and zeal for life, thereby breaking unfounded preconceived notions of the aged population being ‘burdensome’ and ‘slowing down the growth of the country’.
A collaboration with French fragrance specialist Symrise, each portrait of the elderly citizen carries with it a unique encounter with a custom scent that attempts to embody the environment the subject frequents or works in, bringing a new touch and dimension to the photographs.
